Description

A contract is to be awarded for a Gamma Calibration Facility Upgrade - X-ray System on the Nuclear Restoration Services Ltd Dounreay site. Legal Justification

Calibration of RPI ensures that all instruments provide accurate data (as required by Regulation 20, Ionising Radiations Regulations) to maintain a safe working environment.The current Gamma Calibration Facility system (both hardware and software) is an aging asset; the entire system is no longer supported by the original manufacturer. Due to the age of the equipment, degradation of sources and lack of IT updates, and with no back-up system available, there is an increasing risk of failure, therefore urgent remedial action is required.To maintain a compliant, calibrating capability an X-ray system is required, and the identified supplier is the only UK/European supplier capable of directly providing a compatible system suitable for RPI calibration in the required timescales.
