Total Quantity or Scope

The provision of hearing aid support services across Somerset Care Homes:To provide a high quality accessible NHS hearing aid aftercare to care home residents, their visitors and staff.To enable support for continued hearing aid use.To provide hearing screening checks for people with undiagnosed hearing loss.To provide information on hearing loss and the effects of hearing loss.To support communication needs by providing timely signposting to support/rehabilitation services and groups.To support care home staff to help their residents with their hearing loss.;This notice is an intention to award a contract under the most suitable provider process. The approximate life time value of the contract is £46,000.00This is a new service with a new provider.The service will be delivered for a period of 12 months from 13 Jan 2025.

The awarding of this contract is subject to the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. Representations by providers must be made to the relevant authority by 9 January 2025. This contract has not yet formally been awarded; this notice serves as an intention to award under the PSR.The decision-maker is the Programme Director – Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) Programme, Somerset ICS Diagnostics Lead.There were no declared conflicts or potential conflicts of interest of individuals making the decision.The highest weighting was attributed to the the value of the contract due to the limited financial envelope for this service, all other elements had equal weightings. The RNID were chosen as the provider due to their ability to deliver the contract within budget and having a proven track record of successfully delivering the service for a number of other NHS Trusts. RNID is also a nationally recognised charity supporting people with hearing loss.
