Description

The works involve the design, manufacture, fitment and maintenance of European Train Control Systems on board equipment for 24 ( possible increase to 40 via an Employers Option) steam and diesel locomotives which operate on the East Coast Mainline.

Total Quantity or Scope

The works involves the creation of a series of designs for European Train Control Systems (ETCS) to be incorporated with differing Classes of Heritage & Charter Locomotives, which will enable their ability to operate within a European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) Level 2 area without lineside signalling. The system designs for each Class will then be manufactured, fitted to their respective vehicles, and require a period of maintenance under this contract. Network Rail proposes to invite the supply chain market to undertake the works outlined above through a separate (Call For Competition) and corresponding ITT.
